Who Is Undercover? rules — words, voting and tie-breaks
Most of you share one word. A few of you have a similar word. Nobody knows their faction at the start. Listen closely: one perfectly innocent clue might give someone away.

Gather 5–10 friends, one phone each. Choose Who Is Undercover? when creating the room, share the code or QR, and have everyone ready up. The host plays too.
One language for the words
Choose English or Simplified Chinese for the entire game. Everyone keeps the same dealt word when refreshing or changing their interface language. Our starter pack contains 32 independently curated pairs per language.
Check your word privately
There is 1 undercover player with 5–6 people, or 2 with 7–10. Everyone else is a civilian. No blank cards. You see only your own word, without your faction or teammates. Confirm once you remember it.
Describe, then listen
Starting at the lowest surviving seat, each player describes their word out loud without saying it. Tap Description done to pass the turn. Once everyone has spoken, all surviving players vote privately.
Vote and break ties
You cannot vote for yourself or an eliminated player. All votes lock before anonymous totals are shown; individual ballots stay private. A unique highest total eliminates that player. A tie triggers one revote among the tied candidates, with all survivors voting. A second tie eliminates nobody.
Finish the round
Round results remain visible for 5 seconds, then the next phase begins. Pausing freezes that countdown. Eliminated players keep their seats and own word but cannot describe or vote, and do not learn other identities early.
Who wins?
Civilians win as soon as every undercover player is eliminated. Undercover wins once its surviving players match or outnumber the civilians. The final result reveals both words and all identities. An aborted game reveals neither.
Keep the party going
The host can pause, resume, transfer control or end a game, even after being eliminated. After the result, return to the same lobby, keep the players and choose Avalon or another round of Who Is Undercover? Everyone readies up again.
