How special roles fit in
- Percival replaces one Loyal Servant; Morgana, Mordred and Oberon each replace one Minion, so the good and evil counts never change.
- Evil has two seats at 5–6 players, three at 7–9 and four at 10. One is always the Assassin, so you can add at most one evil special role at 5–6, two at 7–9 and three at 10.
- From 7 players on, one mission needs two fail cards to fail (see the table).
5 players
3 good and 2 evil. Merlin and the Assassin are always in; the other seats start as Loyal Servants and Minions.
At 5 players, Percival can only be added together with Morgana or Mordred.

What each role sees
| Merlin | Every evil player except Mordred (Oberon included). |
|---|---|
| Percival | Merlin; with Morgana in the game, two candidates without knowing which is which. |
| Loyal Servant | Nothing extra. |
| Assassin | The other evil players except Oberon. After three successful missions, names one player as Merlin. |
| Morgana | The other evil players except Oberon, and appears to Percival as a possible Merlin. |
| Mordred | The other evil players except Oberon, and stays hidden from Merlin. |
| Oberon | No one; the other evil players do not know Oberon either, but Merlin does. |
| Minion | The other evil players except Oberon. |
Picking a setup for your group
- First game: choose Custom setup and leave every optional role off (only Merlin and the Assassin), so everyone learns missions and votes before bluffing about roles. Custom setup is a Plus setting, free in every room during Early Access.
- Next: add Percival with Morgana. It gives good a second line of information and evil a way to muddy it.
- Experienced groups of 7–9: add Mordred as well, so Merlin no longer sees every evil player. At 10 you can add Oberon too.
